DETAILS / SUMMARY OF JOB

The Department of Anaesthesia at the Princess Royal University Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and committed anaesthetist to join our friendly and progressive team.

The successful candidate must have evidence of broad experience in all aspects of general anaesthesia. A special interest is encouraged and can be accommodated.

The Princess Royal University Hospital has 525 beds, with further beds and operating theatres at Orpington Hospital, and two operating theatres at Queen Mary Hospital, Sidcup. The hospitals serve the local population of the London Borough of Bromley and surrounding areas and are based in the leafy suburban towns of Orpington and Sidcup. This is a highly sought-after location due to its close proximity to many well-regarded primary, secondary and Grammar schools, as well as restaurants, cafes and bars. It is minutes away from Bromley town centre, which has extensive retail and leisure facilities, and regularly appears in the list of the annual top 50 places to live in the UK. The Kent countryside is in close proximity, offering peace and quiet and recreational activities. Many staff live in the local areas, enhancing the community spirit within the hospitals. For those who live further afield, the area is served by fast rail links to central London and a good local bus service, in addition to being 20 minutes' drive from the M25.

The 10 PA posts include 8.5 PAs for DCC and 1.5 SPAs, for responsibilities that will be agreed at job planning. The job plans include provision of anaesthetics for weekend lists and an on-call commitment. You will be expected to work flexibly throughout the week including weekends and out of hours.

Candidates will be called to interview at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH). We encourage all potential candidates to come to the site for an informal visit. Informal discussions and visits can be arranged by contacting Lesley Collins, Anaesthetics Administrator, on 01689 864081.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.

The post holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years), therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
