Applications are invited for permanent consultants to join the Acute Medicine departments at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Less than full time applicants will be considered.

This is an exciting time to join Worcestershire Acute hospitals NHS Trust as we are currently designing and building a new 15 million pound Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) service which includes an expanded Emergency Department and a dedicated Acute Medicine floor comprised of extended medical SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) and short stay facilities. Members of the Acute Medicine team are involved in shaping and developing this service in line with the needs of the local population to improve the quality and standard of acute and emergency care provided.

Successful applicants will join our dynamic Acute Medicine faculties, which combines Consultant Acute Physicians with those from a range of other specialties who contribute to the delivery of acute medical care. We are looking for colleagues who can add to the broad mix of skills and expertise within the department and help us further develop our service to deliver high quality and innovative acute medical care to our local population.

Successful applicants will be based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital or the Alexandra Hospital and work across each of the Medical Assessment Units (MAU), Medical Short Stay Units (MSSU), Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) and in the Emergency Departments with the opportunity to focus on any area that particularly matches their skills or interests.

These consultant posts are new and part of the workforce strategy to improve quality of teaching, development and work life balance for our acute medical team.

Applicants must be eligible for GMC registration with a license to practice and be registered by their start date, and have qualifications or experience that enables them to practice at consultant level in the UK.
