We are seeking an enthusiastic colleague to join our team of 6 gastroenterologists at Wexham Park Hospital.

A sub-specialty interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease would be preferable, although scope exists within the department to support a colleague with other interests e.g., in hepatology, nutrition and endoscopy. A further degree in a related subject, experience with and enthusiasm for R&D/trial work would also be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join the Consultant team in providing in-patient care to patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, malabsorption, malnutrition, GI bleeding, liver disease etc. The gastroenterology zone contains liver patients, IBD patients, nutrition patients and some general medical patients.

Wexham Park Hospital has a new Emergency Assessment Centre comprising a state of the art Emergency Department, an Acute Assessment Unit and a Short Stay Unit for both medical and surgical patients promoting a new multidisciplinary way of working.

Job responsibilities

In-patient duties will be arranged in a 1 week on and 5 weeks off rota with the weeks off allowing focus on elective and specialist work. The Consultants provide GI bleeding on call 1:6 weekdays and weekends (moving to 1:7 with this appointment) and are not on the GIM rota.
