Job Details

We are seeking to appoint a humble, capable and forward-thinking locum general radiology consultant to join our highly functional, accomplished and friendly team. We are looking for a radiologist who can support the haematology MDT and upper GI MDT.

A radiologist who has experience with paediatric radiology is also desirable but not mandatory.

This locum post is for an initial 23 months at which the point the post will be advertised as a substantive consultant radiology post for which the successful applicant can apply if eligible.

The department has a track record of developing locum consultants with almost universal progression to substantive consultants.

 

Main duties of the job A sample 10 PA job plan subject to discussion would include:

 

  • 2 to 3 sessions cold reporting
  • 2 sessions hot reporting site acute MRI and CT
  • 1 session MDT prep
  • 1 session MDT
  • 1 to 2 session US
  • 1 session free in lieu of on call (1 in 20)
  • 1 SPA off site

An extra 0.5 SPA which runs concurrent to the day-to-day job plan allows for departmental meetings eg directorate meetings, audit, educational meetings etc. Additional SPAs can be given to support additional roles (eg governance, quality improvement lead, university roles) after discussion with the clinical director.

The candidate would be expected to take part in core departmental activities plain film reporting, fluoroscopy, MRI, CT or NM after agreement with the clinical director. The general reporting sessions can be at either Royal Blackburn Hospital or Burnley General Hospital, which are 11 miles apart.

We expect job plans to evolve throughout a career and support radiologists who want to develop new skills.
