Trust Clinical Fellow in Acute Frailty and Interface Geriatrics (RAFT)

ST1/ST2

1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Barts Health NHS Trust has a vision to be a high performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. Whipps Cross Hospital serves a local population with a high degree of frailty and within the Barts Health Group is being developed to be a centre for Geriatric medicine. At Whipps Cross Hospital we are proud to say our Acute Frailty Unit has been recognized by the CQC and Healthwatch as an example of outstanding care.

We are looking for Trust grade SHO committed to outstanding care to join us for 1 year where you will provide care for patients on the Whipps Cross Frailty Pathway. You will be responsible for keeping of medical case-notes, ordering and interpreting investigations, writing electronic summaries and making referrals to other specialties.

Our Older People's Service provides a broad spectrum of sub-specialist areas including: frailty, acute geriatrics, orthogeriatrics, rehabilitation, surgical liaison, psychiatry liaison, memory clinic liaison, outpatients and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment Clinics. During the COVID-19 response we have set up a Rapid Assessment Frailty Team (RAFT) providing support to colleagues in primary care and community, remote consultation, and home visits. This RAFT SHO post will offer the unique possibility of following the complete patient journey from home, to hospital and back home, promoting continuity and quality of care.

In return, you will have excellent opportunities to develop your clinical skills and will have access to training and development opportunities.

These posts will be un-banded (no out of hours commitment) and may be ideal for those studying for exams.
