An amazing opportunity has arisen within Geriatric Medicine and MSK services for the ideal candidate's to contribute to the Ortho-Geriatric service supporting the successful new project of Ortho-geriatric services

This post is primarily based at Peterborough City Hospital extending across to Hinchingbrooke Hospital with agreement. However, services are reflected cross site lending to the need for flexibility of working and supporting all teams within the CBU's.

This post forms an integral part of MSK & Geriatric medicine the ideal applicant's will work closely with a skilled speciality nursing team, clinicians, and the wider MDT, creating opportunities for patients to return to the correct destination for ongoing care.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical leadership for the management of medicine cases in the Emergency Department
  • To ensure close working arrangements with colleagues in the Emergency Department.
  • To support senior medical cover of medical inpatients.
  • Management of adult patients of all ages suffering from stroke or TIA.
  • To support senior medical cover for medical outliers during peak seasonal variation of medical admissions.
  • To supervise and train junior medical staff
  • To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • To work with the nursing teams to deliver high standards of care.

This is a new post offering the exciting opportunity to provide registrar grade service in Acute Medicine, General Medicine and Medicine for Older People. We are looking for a team player with a flexible approach who can embrace new ways of working when necessary. You will work at the recently opened state-of-the-art Peterborough City Hospital. You will join our existing team of 12 Specialty Registrars in Acute Medicine, General Medicine and Medicine for Older People at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The appointment is for a total of 40hrs with additional on-call. The appointee will not be part of the on-call rota but will have planned sessions in the evenings and at weekends reviewing acute medical admissions and act as the second-on Medical Registrar.
