We are inviting applications to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated career Neonatologists to work in our tertiary NICU. They will be joining a pro-active team with an excellent clinical reputation in providing a range of Neonatal services. The consultant team delivers a high quality service and use their knowledge and experience to lead and influence the development of neonatal services within Barts Health.

We are looking for applicants who can lead and develop innovative models of care which benefit the infants and their family. We anticipate that the successful applicants to be part of a strong team and complement the team in delivering high quality care to an extremely vulnerable group of patients and their families.

This new post has arisen due to a retirement of one of the consultants to complement an established 9 WTE consultants.

The Neonatal Services within Barts Health incorporate the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Royal London and the Local Neonatal Units at Newham and Whipps Cross University Hospitals.

The Neonatal Unit at the Royal London Hospital has 23 ITU/HDU cots and 14 special care cots. The unit is a busy tertiary neonatal unit with over 800 admissions of medical and surgical infants, providing over 8000 intensive and high dependency care cot days annually. It is one of two perinatal centres for the NE London perinatal network which accounts for over a quarter of the births within the London Region with an anticipated steadily increasing birth rate in this region.

There are currently, 9 WTE Neonatal Consultants and 6 Consultant paediatric Surgeons who manage the service and are actively involved in the care of the new born. There are close links with other paediatric subspecialties within the large Children's Hospital at the Royal London.

The pan London Neonatal Transfer Service is based at the Royal London providing both emergency and elective transfers within London and the South East. This post may include cross-cover of clinical duties within the transfer service.

You will be employed by Barts Health NHS Trust and will be based at The Royal London Hospital and will be working towards 10 programmed activities.
