Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor/Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine post at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in Truro. Posts will be from 2/2/2022 to 2/8/2022, and appointments will be for 6 or 3 months.

Previous postgraduate experience in intensive care medicine is a desired criteria.

The Trust provides acute medical and surgical services to a population of around 480,000, which more than doubles during the busy holiday periods. The Critical Care Department is situated at Treliske Hospital, Truro. Currently there is provision for the delivery of combined level 3 and level 2 care for 15 -17 patients in a newly refurbished, purpose built state of the art unit.

The unit is approved for all stages of training in intensive care medicine.The post holder will be one of nine doctors of Core and Specialty training grades who contribute to a full shift rota. During day time hours there are 2 consultants in Intensive Care medicine on site and out of hours there is continued dedicated consultant cover.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the research, audit and governance activity of the department. There is an excellent track record of previous trainees presenting work carried out within the department at international, national and regional critical care meetings. Every week there is a journal club and a consultant teaching session. Training in both critical care lung ultrasound and transthoracic echocardiography is available and previous trainees have gained their FICE accreditation during this post.
