Consultants in Elderly Medicine

St James's Hospital

We have 2 x Locum Consultant Geriatrician posts that will be available immediately for a period of 6 months to cover maternity leave. The inpatient work connected to the post will be based at St James's Hospital.

The post will be 10PA's with the option to work LTFT if preferred and will be focussed on managing Elderly in patients and supporting the discharge process.

The successful applicants should hold MRCP (UK) accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.

The ideal applicants for these posts will be able to demonstrate the following attributes: strong knowledge and skills in elderly medicine, positive response to the challenges of service development, resilience and flexibility in the face of change, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They will be able to work cooperatively with colleagues both at consultant level and across the multidisciplinary team. They will have a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and an ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role of research in driving up clinical quality. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
