Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in Hepato-Pancreat
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Consultant post responsible for the provision of general surgery with a specialist interest in pancreatic surgery to the Health Board.
At present there are 3 pancreatic surgeons serving Swansea site in Swansea Bay University Health Board. The majority of these surgeons have sessions in both Morriston and Singleton Hospitals but all major surgery and emergency intake occur on the Morriston site.
Swansea provides elective and emergency general surgical services to Swansea and the Neath/Port Talbot area which amounts to a population of around 400,000.
General Surgery Services at ABM University Health Board are provided for the local populations (over 500,000 residents) of Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot, Bridgend, and South Powys; and tertiary services are provided to the wider population of Mid and South West Wales (population 1,000,000).
The Department of Pancreatic forms part of the Surgical Directorate, which includes Colorectal, Bariatric, Oesophageal, Vascular and Urology Surgery. The Directorate is led by a Clinical Director supported by a Clinical Lead, General Manager and a Head of Nursing.
