We are seeking to recruit two enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Consultants to join the Chronic Pain Management of Anaesthetics department at SWBH NHS Trust, Birmingham. The applicant must be on the GMC specialist register or, if currently in training, must be eligible to be on the specialist register within six months of the interview date. Applicants must have wide training and experience in Chronic Pain. Requirements for training are described in the Person Specification.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic full time Consultant Anaesthetists with interest in Chronic Pain management to join our dynamic multidisciplinary pain team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS trust. Our vision is to provide high quality, safe, evidence-based care through a compassionate and collaborative approach. The demand for our pain services is ever increasing, and this is an exciting time to join our team as we expand our services and develop new and innovative ways for working and treating our pain patients. Individuals wishing to work in pain management without any anaesthetic sessions may also apply. Individuals with additional clinical, diagnostic skills or training that enhance the abilities of the pain team are particularly welcome.

The successful candidates will join the non-resident 1 in 12 on-call rota.

We have a busy maternity unit with nearly 6000 deliveries a year. Maternity services were rated as Good by CQC in April 2019. They commended the team for compassionate care provided to the patients.
