Applications are invited to apply for the post of Consultant in Haematology at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, which has become vacant through retirement.
The Haematology Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is a cohesive and friendly multi-disciplinary team. This post is a replacement full time (10PA) post, as one of seven consultants supported by five clinical nurse specialists, a speciality registrar and two medical trainees.
We provide BCSH level 2b care to a population of close to 500,000. This allows us to maintain haemato-oncology MDT oversight of our patients with the benefit of strong regional network links. An 18-bedded ward (including five HEPA-filtered side rooms) and a 21-chair outpatient treatment unit are shared with our oncology colleagues. We are JACIE accredited in conjunction with University Hospitals, Plymouth and manage stem cell harvests and post-autograft care on site. We are a UKHCDO-designated Haemophilia Treatment Centre.
Research is seen as a priority and we possess a well-staffed and dynamic clinical trials department with a strong research portfolio. Opportunities for academic activities are numerous through our established links with the University of Exeter Medical School.
General experience in malignant and non-malignant haematology is essential Sub-specialist interests in haemostasis and thrombosis are desirable, but there is flexibility to accommodate a strong candidate who has a preference for haemato-oncology (in particular myeloid malignancy or myeloma).
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of interview.
