The Haematology Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is a cohesive and friendly multi-disciplinary team. This post is a replacement full time (10PA) post, as one of seven consultants supported by five clinical nurse specialists, a speciality registrar and two medical trainees.

We provide BCSH level 2b care to a population of close to 500,000. This allows us to maintain haemato-oncology MDT oversight of our patients with the benefit of strong regional network links. An 18-bedded ward (including five HEPA-filtered side rooms) and a 21-chair outpatient treatment unit are shared with our oncology colleagues. We are JACIE accredited in conjunction with University Hospitals, Plymouth and manage stem cell harvests and post-autograft care on site. We are a UKHCDO-designated Haemophilia Treatment Centre.

Research is seen as a priority and we possess a well-staffed and dynamic clinical trials department with a strong research portfolio. Opportunities for academic activities are numerous through our established links with the University of Exeter Medical School.

General experience in malignant and non-malignant haematology is essential Sub-specialist interests in haemostasis and thrombosis are desirable, but there is flexibility to accommodate a strong candidate who has a preference for haemato-oncology (in particular myeloid malignancy or myeloma).

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share. The Royal Cornwall Hospital is an Equal Opportunities Employer
