These posts would consist of a clinical commitment of being a registrar in emergency medicine. There would be 2 non clinical days allocated per month to the clinical fellow to develop a specialist interest.

Registrar in Emergency Medicine & Clinical Fellow in Medical Education

The clinical fellow in medical education is expected to get involved in teaching commitments across disciplines in the ED and the hospital:

  1. Coordinating and evaluating emergency department teaching
  2. Involvement in technical skills training for emergency medicine trainees, for example, teaching ultrasound guided fascia iliaca block for proximal third femur fractures
  3. Develop of exisiting TUH ED e-learning programme

Registrar in Emergency Medicine & Clinical Fellow in Geriatric Emergency Medicine

This post offers fellows exposure to a number of unique learning opportunities not available to trainees in their training to date including:

  1. Collaborative working with the GEDI service offers the opportunity to gain experience in the provision of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and management of common Geriatric syndromes.
  2. Secondment with the National Ambulance Service/ local community advanced paramedic. Tallaght University Hospital is unique to have a National Ambulance Service community advanced paramedic working in the catchment area who has built close links with the hospital.
  3. Secondment to specialist Tallaght University Hospital geriatric clinics relevant geriatric emergency medicine
  • GEDI Rapid Access Geriatric Medicine Clinic, Charlie O’Toole Unit.
  • Tallaght University Hospital Memory Assessment Clinic
  • Rapid Access Stroke Prevention (RASP) clinic
  • Geriatric Medicine Clinic.
  • Falls Assessment Clinic
  • Atrial fibrillation Clinic

Registrar in Emergency Medicine & Clinical Fellow in Simulation

The clinical fellow in simulation is expected to get involved in simulation training across disciplines in the ED and the hospital including:

  1. Design of simulation scenarios
  2. Leading simulation scenarios

 

 

Registrar in Emergency Medicine & Clinical Fellow in Academic Emergency Medicine

The clinical fellow in simulation is expected to get involved in academic activities across the emergency department including:

  • Ethics application
  • Research methodology
  • Completing a loop audit
  • Development of clinical practice guidelines

 

 

The fellow is expected to have a number of academic and knowledge translation outputs including:

  • Peer review publication
  • Presentations at local, national and international meetings

The following is required for employment:

  • Satisfactory references 
  • Satisfactory registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) and the provision of your IMC Registration Certificate effective from 9th July 2018.
  • Satisfactory evidence of English Language Competency
  • Satisfactory completion of Children’s First
  • Satisfactory completion of Self Declaration Form
  • Satisfactory completion of Garda Vetting Form
  • Satisfactory clearance from Occupational Health Department   
  • Satisfactory evidence of Residency Status
  • Satisfactory evidence of current ACLS / APLS certificate.  NCHDs who participate in Crash Call include those working in Adult and Paediatric Medicine, Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, and Anaesthesia.  It is not permitted for you to be a member of the Crash Call team without a current certificate.
  • Satisfactory evidence of Hand Hygiene training. 
  • Satisfactory evidence of Manual Handling training.
