This is a substantive Consultant post in our Award winning and CQC Outstanding Ageing and Health (Medical Care) service. Our frailty services are based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, and at Milford Hospital (less than 15 minutes’ drive).

We are looking for an excellent colleague with broad geriatric medicine expertise and an enthusiasm for change and service development. We welcome applicants with any specialist interests, which can be accommodated within our flexible team.  This is a fantastic time to join our department as we continue to develop our services with an integrated strategy for frailty across the acute and community services.

The Royal Surrey is very proud to have an enthusiastic and dynamic team of Geriatricians who share a common goal. From our Acute Frailty service to our strong multidisciplinary team working on the frailty wards, the support we provide to colleagues through Orthogeriatrics and the inpatient Older Person’s Advice and Liaison Service, we strive to improve the care of those patients with frailty in our hospital. The Royal Surrey is unique in offering tertiary level oncology and linked speciality services, as well as district general and community services, with close network relationships with our colleagues regionally.

Through quality improvement and transformation, we are constantly working to better the services that we offer. At present we are working on a number of projects including Same Day Emergency Care, Hospital at Home and standardised comprehensive geriatric assessment in the community. This is all underpinned by an overarching integrated frailty strategy with training and education and workforce development at its core.  This includes a CeSR programme to support the development of our Specialty Doctors.

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is a friendly, supportive, busy but welcoming acute and community Trust that is ambitious about developing our services and your career.

Our compassionate, caring and friendly colleagues make up our Royal Surrey family and are at the heart of what we do. We all have a passion for learning, continuous improvement and excelling together through innovation, research and development. There are over 4,500 members of our Royal Surrey family.

We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in the community and homes across Guildford and Waverley.

We have received an overall ‘Good’ rating from the CQC with Medical care (including older people’s care), End of Life Care and Maternity services being deemed ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC. We are investing in our colleagues through our health and wellbeing programme and a commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years.

There has never been a better time to join us.

Enquires welcomed by:
