Rediscover the Joy of General Practice in Scotland

Are you passionate about high quality care and want flexibility in how you work?

We are looking for highly motivated GPs interested in helping us develop new ways of delivering excellence.

Rediscover the Joy is in its third year of development. It is a collaborative project across 7 Scottish
Health Boards focussing on the values that brought many of us into General Practice:
 Care and compassion
 Dignity and respect
 Openness, honesty and responsibility
 Quality and teamwork

Join one of our GP Support Teams to provide cover in GP practices across Scotland for 1-4 week periods. Travel from a Scottish city and accommodation is funded, but taxable. Remote working from your home to provide patient care, mentor clinical staff or support practice development is also available. You are free to choose your attachments, work in one practice or across several and take as many placements as suits you. As disparate GPs you will come together as teams through a WhatsApp group and regular videoconference meetings, designed to provide mutual support, share learning, and drive quality improvement. For those wishing to work in rural and remote practices we provide Pre-Hospital Emergency Care training.

The project is developing flexible ways of working to suit GPs at different stages of career and personal life; providing opportunities for you to work differently. It recognises that individuals have different skills and motivations, but that satisfaction comes from being part of a team working to
continually improve care provision and the lives of individuals. Through collaboration, empowerment and quality improvement General Practice can be made sustainable and we can address many of the challenges facing the NHS together.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we all work and strengthened our resolve to provide flexible, interesting and enjoyable opportunities. We aim to support rural practices and those that
are struggling due to recruitment difficulties. If a practice has ongoing sustainability issues, we can help them create structures to maximise the potential for our workforce to not only deliver good patient care, but also support practice development.

Happy GPs tend to be good GPs. By bringing together teams of highly motivated GPs with a shared philosophy based on values, the pursuit of holistic General Practice and quality improvement we believe we can help you to experience and spread joy in Primary Care. We aim to understand your areas of interest, aspirations for development and ideal working patterns and then try to match you with suitable opportunities.

These posts may particularly appeal to portfolio GPs, those considering retirement and want to reduce their commitments, or established GP that might benefit from occasionally working in other environments. The posts also provide the opportunity to work in practices with vacancies, allowing
you to find a substantive post that suits you. The salary is £90,001 pro-rata with study and annual leave allocations built in. Indemnity cover is provided.
