Consultant - Acute Medicine
Applications are invited for a Consultant in Acute Medicine at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Acute Medicine and Same Day Medical Assessment Unit
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of 9 consultants and 7 Specialty doctors offering all aspects of an Acute Medical career you could ask for. We have a dedicated Same Day Medical Assessment unit after securing £3 million in funding to allow one to deliver high quality same day medical care and improving patients journey and experience that has received commendation from NHS England.
Our AMU Department has 53 beds with a dedicated short stay older persons unit and specialty ownership allowing patients to be seen by the right person right time.
We offer both Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching opportunities and our Trust's Postgraduate Teaching is now the number one trust in the number one region.
We welcome applicants with special interests and those that may wish to work part time.
We are dedicated to developing a sustainable department delivering high quality care to our patients and allowing for work life balance. For new consultants the job plan for this post will include 2.5 SPAs for the first year.
Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities. There are world class Sailing waters in Falmouth and world class surfing beaches on both North and South coast. The countryside is beautiful with rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling. There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants within Cornwall.
There are regular flights from Newquay to London and Manchester and beyond. The major road route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter. There are regular rail services with daily passenger and sleeper services

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / EU equivalent certification at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
