Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist who is dedicated and passionate about improving mental health services? Are you looking for your next role as a dynamic leader in General Adults Psychiatry?

Here at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team of community consultants covering Yeovil West.

You will be coming into a full time, 10 PA position, however flexibility on your hours can be discussed. We are offering the opportunity for you to work 1 PA in a specific role that you are interested in, such as leadership, research or training. We are also able to offer you job security with your job plan, and we pride ourselves on demonstrating open and honest communication with our team.

For the right person for this role, we are able to offer you a generous relocation package of up to £8,000, to support with your move to the South West. As well as this, our friendly and welcoming Medical Recruitment team will be your point of contact to alleviate those stresses of moving to another location.

You will be joining a supportive and collaborative community mental health team, where you will work closely with the other consultants in the local area. You will also be supported by 0.5 WTE Associate Specialist support, with plans to increase Specialty doctor input to the Team in the future.

You will provide senior psychiatric input to the Yeovil West community mental health team, which is aligned to 5 of the 20 GP surgeries in the Yeovil area. You will work to a functional model following a community/inpatient split. The GP population catchment area for Yeovil West CMHT is 45,162 which is within Royal College recommendations.

Our community mental health services have expanded across the Trust with concomitant expansion in staff as we have built up a new service called Open Mental Health, in the last 2 years. This service works closely with primary care, the wider community and the voluntary sector. This service includes psychologists, assistant psychologists, liaison staff, eating disorder leads and support workers.

Ideally, you will have Section 12 approval / Approved Clinician status and Entry on the GMC Specialist Register, eligible for entry on Register or will be within 6 months of receipt of your Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or CESR. That said, for the right person, the team are able to implement a development plan to help support you in obtaining either of these requirements.

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is the first NHS trust on the English mainland to provide community, mental health and acute hospital services. We are delighted to announce that in November 2020 Somerset FT was shortlisted for the mental health trust of the year award in the widely acclaimed HSJ Awards. It follows a series of initiatives that we’ve introduced that have changed the way we develop and plan our mental health services.
