Locum Consultant in Integrated Sexual Health

Are you a Consultant that would like the opportunity to support a dynamic team to provide GU and contraception services? Or, possibly a Specialty Registrar that is within 6 months of completing your specialist training?

We are inviting someone like you to join our Integrated Sexual Health Service (Swish) as a Locum Consultant, for a period of 12 months.

This is an existing opportunity for you to work with an enthusiastic and dedicated multidisciplinary team, providing high quality integrated sexual health services within Somerset. You will work across the Level 3 services in Taunton and South Petherton, with experienced multidisciplinary colleagues. As well as taking pride in caring for our patients, we also prioritise taking care of our employees. You will be part of a dynamic team who understand the challenges of working in the SWISH department and the importance of supporting each other.

As well as leading a team, you will provide an excellent service to our patience which will include the diagnoses of sexually transmitted infections as per BASHH and BHIVA standards and you will offer contraception service including LARC to SWISH as per FSRH standards. In addition to your clinical work, your time will also be involved in supervising and teaching our undergraduates/postgraduates during their SWISH placement.

The SWISH main hub, where you will be based, is situated in Taunton, Somerset. As a service, we also hold clinics in community hospitals across the South West including Minehead, Bridgwater, Frome, Chard, South Petherton and eventually in Yeovil, where a new clinic is being planned. On average the service sees almost 18,000 attendances a year with males accounting for 33% of all attendees.
