GP Practice Based CAMHS Advanced Practitioners
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 mental health practitioners to work into our local Primary Care Networks (PCN) GP practices to support the needs of our local population living with mental health difficulties. This is a new and innovative service supporting people in primary care settings and working in a collaborative and multiagency way to meet the needs of patients with a range of mental health needs.
GP practices have begun working together alongside community, mental health, social care, pharmacy, hospital and voluntary services in the local area to form PCNs. PCNs signal a significant change in the way practices interact not only with each other, but the wider health and social care system. This will enable care to be delivered to a defined patient population, in a different way to meet the needs of that population. This will be focused on prevention and personalisation of care, making best use of resources collectively.
The post will sit within the GP practices and will offer assessment, diagnosis, treatment/brief interventions and review for children and young people. The role will be offering specialist mental health clinical care. The role will also offer networking expertise and navigation to a range of specialist mental health supports to ensure each child/young person once assessed receives the best possible care in the right place at the right time by the right supporting service.
Candidates should have extensive clinical knowledge and experience across a range of mental health settings. Candidates will need to be able to offer supervision to other mental health professionals and GP practice staff. Experience in leading meetings, presentation skills and offering training and education to professionals across a range of specialties will be essential.
Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.
In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.
Clinical supervision will be provided by CAMHS. We already have established permanent adult advanced practitioner posts with in the GP practices.
