We are recruiting for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our Portsmouth CAMHS Crisis In-reach and Liaison Service in addition to working with Looked After Children’s Mental Health Team.

You’ll have an exciting and real opportunity to shape the newly formed Crisis in-reach and Liaison Service for children and young people presenting in the acute medical care setting and to work collaboratively with the local community CAMHS teams, as well as partner agencies in the area.

The Crisis In-reach Liaison Team works very closely with the wider Portsmouth CAMHS Team, making the follow-up care easily accessible and having the support of the wider team. In addition, working with the specialist CAMHS team provides opportunity to further support the journey of young people in their recovery, delivering evidence-based treatment.

The emphasis is on early recognition and addressing mental health needs and proactive engagement of the network to ensure best possible outcomes and quality of life for CYP Looked After.

We’re open to the idea of flexible working to enable a well-rounded work life balance. You will be part of a well-managed out of hours on call rota on an approximately 1:11 basis, with support from a first on rota of experienced specialty and core psychiatry trainees.

Continuous Professional Development is a main focus and there is ample opportunity to contribute towards specialty education in the clinical setting, through supervising trainees at all stages of their career development. There’s an attractive relocation package to the successful candidate.
