Applications are invited for the posts of Consultant Stroke Physician on behalf of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, Cornwall.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are interested in assisting with the expansion of the Stroke, Older Person's Services and frailty in Cornwall.

Cornwall Stroke services and frailty pathway are in the process of rapid transformation following significant investment.

The RCH Stroke Service has recently developed following significant new investment. We recently redesigned our Acute Stroke Pathway to include a 6 bedded Level 1 Hyper Acute Stroke Unit which is now to open fully. The team also support the two community based Stroke Rehab Units, as well as attend neurovascular clinics. The Stroke team is dedicated to providing a first class service where the patient and relatives come first. The Stroke Consultant team take a proactive approach to teaching and research - your chance to take a lead in forging pioneering new approaches to stroke care.

There is rapid collaborative development and delivery of system-wide services for Cornwall Frailty pathways. The RCH team of Older People's Services has recently been described by the National Frailty Network as 'a great group of geriatricians who are making important steps towards improving an already first rate frailty service.' The posts are already supported by a large, friendly, progressive Older Person's Service who is forward thinking, passionate and caring. The consultant team work alongside our exceptional team of nurses, allied health professionals, community partners and old age psychiatrists to deliver the very best multi-disciplinary care to our community. The department is dedicated to providing a first class service close to the patient's home where the patient and relatives come first.

You would be able to work primarily stroke with an interest in geriatrics, or a mixture of both. Dual accreditation will be considered. The developments and transformation mean we are able to offer candidates a range of roles and sub-specialties, with the prospect of developing their particular areas of interest further through innovation and service improvement. We welcome applications from existing and newly trained Consultants with options for flexible working. For new consultants the job plan for this post will include 2.5 SPAs for the first year.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / EU equivalent certification at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time or those wishing to job-share.
