Consultant Community and Hospital Physician in Respiratory Medicine
This post has arisen through the Better Care Together alliance between the three Leicestershire, Leicester, and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) UHL NHS Trust, Leicestershire Partnership Team, and primary care. In line with opportunities identified by NHS RightCare for Respiratory, the aim of this role is to lead and support the early detection and accurate diagnosis of respiratory patients, and to ensure optimal long term management to improve health and reduce hospital admissions and premature mortality. The long-term vision is to provide a high quality, patient centred, specialist led integrated Community Cardiorespiratory service to the residents of LLR.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic respiratory physician with successful leadership qualities to join our team to help shape and lead our community integrated respiratory services. Part of our STP is to develop an integrated cardiorespiratory service, and you will lead, deliver, and support this development. The aim of the service is to enhance the quality and coordination of care for people with long term respiratory disease, bringing together clinical services in the acute, primary care, and community sectors to support primary care improvement through specialist in-reach work and upskilling.
Respiratory Medicine at Glenfield Hospital has a national and international reputation for its academic and clinical services. Clinically, we have specialist services in lung cancer with advanced bronchoscopic and pleural techniques, chronic suppurative lung infections, Cystic Fibrosis, TB, domiciliary ventilation, complex COPD and asthma, interstitial lung disease, and exercise and sports medicine.
