The posts are based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage, the post is full time and the post holder will be expected to participate on the 1:7middle graderota.

This is an excellent opportunity within the Urology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. We have a dedicated Urology Ward. There is a broad range of open, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery well supported by modern equipment and a dedicated inpatient theatre. The department is the regional robotic centre and has national post CCT robotic fellows who work alongside the other middle grades. There is a sub-regional renal unit so patients with complex nephro-urological problems are safely managed. We are also well supported by 4 interventional radiologists with CT, MR and nuclear medicine

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Fellow will have opportunities to further their surgical knowledge through exposure to clinics, operating lists, ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings and formal teaching. The department also runs a research program. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training the appointee will be supported towards their training and development within the role.

Job description
Job responsibilities

The post will be a balance of outpatient, day case and inpatient operating duties. To participate in the departments teaching, audit and educational activities Daily ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient management of patients, operating lists and on call

There is a 1 in 7 rota commitment with this post. Rota commitments will usually involve additional working hours and commitments at different hours and times across a seven day week.

Person Specification
Fitness to Practice
  • Evidences engagement with appraisal and revalidation
Clinical Expertise in Speciality/Subspeciality
  • Minimum 12 months experience of working in Urology at ST3/SHO level or above
  • Experience in Urological operation such as flexible and rigid cystoscopy, catheterisation and exploration of acute scrotum
  • NHS experience
  • FRCS/MRCS or equivalent
  • APLS/ ALS/ATLS certification or equivalent
  • Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
