Full Time (10 PA’s)
North Bristol NHS Trust would like to invite applications for a full-time Consultant Neuropsychiatrist post, with a special interest in Acquired/Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation. The post is based at the Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre (FBIRC). The FBIRC is the Level 1 specialist inter-disciplinary neuro-rehabilitation centre serving the South West region. The centre is a joint working arrangement between North Bristol NHS Trust and the Huntercombe Group.
The post-holder will be part of NBT’s renowned Neurosciences and Musculoskeletal Directorate at Southmead Hospital. Southmead is a new 850 bed, state-of-the-art hospital which opened in 2014, and is the regional Major Trauma Centre. The post-holder will have the advantage of the strong, clinical and academic links associated with this teaching hospital, as well as providing an outpatient clinic and liaison work there, as appropriate.
At FBIRC, the post-holder will divide the management of the 29 Level 1, and 23 Level 2 in-patients, with the two Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, depending on medical/psychiatric need. In addition to the session of NBT Outpatient Clinic work, there is a further session allocated to providing support for the community neurorehabilitation team based at the Head Injury Therapy Unit (HITU).
We are looking to appoint a Consultant who will offer a high quality, clinical service for the rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injury, provide clinical leadership to the inter-disciplinary team and play an integral role in the further development of rehabilitation pathways across the South West. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and the development of academic and research interests will be encouraged.
Bristol is a historic port on the Severn estuary and is a vibrant city offering a diverse lifestyle. Its modern economy is built on the creative media, electronics and aerospace industries with the city centre docks redeveloped as centres of heritage and culture. FBIRC is situated at the junction of M5/M4 motorways with excellent links to the Cornwall peninsula, South Wales and London and offers an excellent quality of life and was the first UK city to receive the European Green Capital Award.
Full registration with a license to practice with the GMC is essential with evidence of higher CCT specialist training.
Post is pending Royal College Approval.
