Emergency Locum Consultant General and Colorectal  Surgeon
(6 Months fixed term with a possibility to extend)

We are looking for a x 2 Locum Consultants in General and Colorectal Surgery, to further develop our service at Newham University Hospital and join the General Surgery Emergency Consultant of the Week rota.

Key duties will be supervising and running outpatient clinics, operating lists and endoscopy lists, on call cover, and care for patients on wards in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including ward nurses and specialist nursing teams. The post-holder will be expected to participate in the academic activities of the department with collaborative working with colleagues across all sites to ensure consistency of care and services.

The post-holder will be principally based at Newham General Hospital, however they may be required to work at all Barts Health sites.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in undergraduate education in general surgery and allied specialties by close association with the Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD).

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and preferably be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.

Evidence will be required of experience in General and Colorectal Surgery including Laparoscopic Surgery. The applicant must also have an evidence-based track record of achievement in undergraduate teaching.
