We deliver anaesthesia for a range of general and subspecialty areas including Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic, Hepatobiliary, Endocrine, Maxillofacial, Liver Transplant, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Major Trauma.

The Anaesthetic department at King's is delighted to advertise these posts for a period of 12 months. Standard hours of duty will be 40 per week plus additional out-of-hours commitments.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new rota staffing our cardiac recovery unit (CRU), a six bedded level three, intensive care for our post-operative cardiothoracic patients. The unit is open from Monday afternoon to Saturday midday and the on-call commitment will be in 12 hour resident shifts covering the unit 24 hours per day. Senior cover overnight is provided by a specific CRU consultant who will also run ward rounds etc in normal working hours.

There are opportunities within this role, outside of the on-call commitment, to gain experience in many of the general and subspecialty areas of anaesthetics we offer at King's. We have successfully delivered higher training modules for CESR candidates for several years and with discussion, this could also be an option for this post holder. Equally within cardiac there will be opportunities to be involved in cardiac anaesthesia, high risk perioperative assessment, MDMs and cardiac cath lab cases.
