Contact Details

We have the opportunity for a Locum Obstetric Consultant to join our team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

This post will give the candidate experience of working at a busy tertiary referral centre. The post holder will work an on-call rota on a 1:8 basis (including weekends and prospective cover) and the job plan can also be tailored to include interesting daytime sessions. The post will suit both new and experienced consultants who are looking for an obstetric post in a teaching hospital.

Main duties:

The changes made to our service in response to the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the need for obstetric consultants who can work with our existing team. We have excellent collaboration with our midwifery colleagues, and are supported by a fantastic business team. All of our staff are encouraged to contribute to service improvement. When you join the NUH maternity family, even on a locum basis, you will be encouraged to do this not only through clinical work, but also through participating in leadership task groups focused on a variety of improvement objectives.

Although the posts will predominantly be to support the general obstetric service, we are able to offer special interest sessions to candidates depending on their area of interest and prior experience.

Working for NUH

You will be joining us at a time of significant transformation within our maternity service. We are striving for excellence across the service, from our community care to our labour suite and birth centres. Our tertiary centre provides specialist care and general maternity care to women from across Nottinghamshire.

Working in collaboration with our local Maternity system, network, and Maternity Voices Partnership, we are developing our service to provide high quality care throughout the maternity journey. We are currently seeking to explore new ways of working, such as video consultations, to improve women’s experience.

Applicants must have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and must be registered in the GMC’s specialist register.
