Job Details

Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin
Fixed term until August 2021

Dr Gray’s is the smallest District General Hospital in Scotland and therefore offers the benefits of an experience aligned to Rural Medicine in a small friendly setting and opportunity to work across specialties. Some specific benefits may include:

  • Clinical experience and practical skills are often gained where these would be hard to achieve in a larger teaching hospital environment.
  • Direct consultant supervision, support and training
  • Breadth of experience with opportunity to work in different specialties / settings e.g. theatres
  • Further enhancement of your CV by incorporating this expanded role

Exciting developments and workforce innovation are currently taking place at Dr Gray’s Hospital by promoting Rural Medicine, Acute Medicine and Family Medicine models as well as potential for some specialist interests such as a transfer role. We are looking to develop Dr Gray’s as a Centre of Excellence for Rural Medicine training and experience.

This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.

The Clinical Fellow post is suitable for trainees who have recently completed or are about to complete the UK Foundation Programme, Core Surgical Training or Core Medical Training.

The posts are generalist appointments to allow flexibility across the hospital along with potential development of specialist interests and potential to have a better experience in Women and Child Health posts. The Emergency Department post allows experience in ED with the added experience of covering Women and Children when working at night. The Women and Children post gives O and G and Paediatrics experience during Monday to Friday with ED experience at weekends.

The post is of high educational value and supported by the University of Aberdeen Medical School. However, it is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean.

The following incentives may be offered:

•    Neonatal life support training
•    Opportunity to attend local training programmes
•    Specialist interests such as pre-hospital & transfer medicine

At Dr Gray’s we value Clinical Fellows and want to invest in your future!
