Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board seeks to appoint a Consultant
Urology Surgeon with an interest in Robotically Assisted Oncology Surgery
for the patients of North Wales. We aim to further strengthen our urology
team to provide excellent care to the population of North Wales and the
service provided at Ysbyty Gwynedd. The hospital is situated in Bangor
giving the benefits and lifestyle of a scenic country landscape whilst
providing excellent road and rail links with the rest of the UK.
Ysbyty Gwynedd is the established North Wales Centre for Gynaecology
Oncology Surgery. The Health Board wishes to develop a Complex Pelvic
Cancer Centre at the hospital in collaboration with other specialties and
in order to achieve that we want expand our Urological Pelvic Oncology
footprint. In addition, we are seeking an inspirational, visionary and
motivated Surgeon who will lead in in the development of Urological
Robotically Assisted Surgery at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
We will welcome candidates with subspecialty interests in Laparoscopic/
Robotic upper tract & pelvic oncological surgery and we are keen to
discuss your requirements.
For the right candidate there will be additional opportunities to develop in
clinical leadership and hold leadership responsibilities within the service.
Working with excellent colleagues in Urology Services, this is a great
opportunity to work in a progressive department and actively shape the
future of the Urology service across North Wales.
With the Health Board’s existing close links to Bangor University, this
post will provide the right candidate an exciting opportunity to develop
relationships with the University Health Sciences School in anticipation of
the North Wales Medical School.
Our offer will include:
- Appointment to the appropriate scale of the amended Welsh Consultant Contract with a current salary range of £79,957 - £103,806 per annum.
- Eligibility for Consultant ‘Commitment Awards’ up to a maximum of £24,410 per annum.
- Working with an excellent North Wales Urology Multi-Disciplinary Team
- A commitment to teaching, education research and audit with partnering organisations
- Support provided to add clinical leadership to the role to supportclinical governance across the North Wales Urology Service
- The Hospital is superbly located in North Wales, with its areas of outstanding natural beauty, and within easy reach of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester
You will be on the Specialist Register, have CCST’s or recognised
equivalent or be within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of interview.
For individuals who are appropriately qualified but yet to join the Specialist
Register, a locum appointment may be feasible.
