Job Details

We are really excited to be expanding our existing Consultant Team and are looking for you to join us as we open our brand new Paediatric Emergency Department and as we begin our new CESR Training Programme. There will be the opportunity for you to help develop these projects as well as others. Our key focus is on improving the quality of care we deliver to our patients.

We are also expanding the nursing and allied medical professional workforce, this is on a background of successfully supporting a number of our ACPs through the RCEM credentialing process.

These posts offer 10 PAs but can be expanded up to 12, we would also fully support less than full time applicants. We would suggest contacting us to discuss either of these in advance. Currently all post-holders have one day off each week.

You must be on the specialist register for Emergency Medicine or within six months of obtaining your CCT/ CESR.

Main duties of the job

The clinical work comprises the receipt, resuscitation, initial treatment and diagnosis of undifferentiated emergency attendees presenting 24hours per day to a modern emergency department. You will provide supervision for junior clinical staff working in the ED during shop floor duties, and flexibility during working hours to further support the department if required. There are regular consultant-led ED safety rounds to ensure that all patients in the department have a clear management plan in place at all times, as well as a focus on comfort and dignity. We encourage close liaison with the inpatient teams throughout the day to optimise patient management & flow.

You will be supported in developing and maintaining your professional clinical, educational, and academic interests. Further details can be found on the attached JD.

About us

NGH is one of the largest employers in the area and all of our divisions are committed to doing things better, with more efficiency as we update, modernise, and advance. We have also entered into a Group Model with neighbouring Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Being a large DGH with a proud history, we are big enough to get interesting cases, but small enough to care, coach and develop. With over 200 consultants, a similar number of trainees and approximately 60medical undergraduates throughout the year, NGH provides comprehensive care and extensive training opportunities.

With this in mind, we have built a state of the art emergency assessment unit (Nye Bevan building) and are developing new ways of working to streamline in-patient care and optimize working with our partners.

NGH also has a large library, gym with swimming pool, and a brand new entrance with Marks and Spencer, Subway and Costa on site.
