Consultant Haematologist with a Specialist Interest in Aplastic Anaemia and Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.

This substantive post has become available from the retirement of Professor Judith Marsh. This represents an exciting opportunity to join the AA/PNH/BMF team at Kings College Hospital. We are looking for a dynamic team player who will take an active interest in in the clinical, service development and research activities of the department. This is a full-time post providing 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) with an on call commitment (1:14) and potential research opportunities dependent on qualifications and experience.

Kings College Hospital is a specialist centre for treatment of AA and an NHSE commissioned centre for PNH. We deliver both an active clinical trial and research programme in these areas and are looking for a committed individual to drive the future service and translational research forward.

The individual will be required to play an important role in the general workload of the department pertaining to myeloid disorders. The post-holder will work within the marrow failure and myeloid team to cover inpatient and outpatient clinics as well as multidisciplinary team meetings. Outpatient clinic requirement is two speciality clinics per week. Inpatient attending work will cover marrow failure, myeloid and stem cell transplantation. Whilst the post-holder will be expected to cover all of these areas as required, a more focussed sub-specialty interest can be accommodated dependent on interests and expertise of the successful candidate.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years), therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
