Job Details
Following retirement an opportunity exists to appoint to the post of Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children in Swansea Bay University Health Board.
The post is full time and combines both the Named Doctor statutory role together with community paediatric sessional commitment.
The successful applicant will have overarching responsibility across the Health Board and lead on safeguarding matters across Morriston, Singleton, Neath Port Talbot hospitals, and in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Local Authority areas. They are supported by the Head of Safeguarding, the Named Midwife and a team of specialist safeguarding childrens nurses.
Paediatrics in Swansea Bay is a department with excellent values for patient care and offers outstanding postgraduate and undergraduate teaching opportunities. We have taken an active and innovative way to support the RCPCH standards of care for children and also balance this with the wellbeing of newly appointed consultants.
Mentorship and leadership development is also offered.
Swansea is part of South Wales which is a great place to live and work. It is close to Cardiff, which is a vibrant European capital and also to the Gower peninsula famed for its outstanding natural beauty. Based along the M4 corridor, and with an international airport close by, we enjoy excellent transport links to all parts of the UK and further afield.
This is a 10 session post with 3 sessions for supporting professional activities
