MYDoc Registrar - Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models. Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care.

These posts are not recognised UK training posts. Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop alongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes or credentialing to support career progression through other routes.

An Introduction to the Division/Specialty from Head of Clinical Service

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor to join our department at an exciting time in our Trust's future. The Department offers a supportive and encouraging environment in which to develop as a professional with opportunities to develop in specialist fields.

The vacancy has arisen in the Trauma & Orthopaedics department for a senior orthopaedic trainee (preferably post CCT) to commence ASAP for 12 months. This post has been developed as a training opportunity for registrars preferably post CCT before taking up consultant posts.

In Mid Yorkshire Hospitals, we perform approximately 1,200 hip and knee replacement surgeries every year and approximately 110 revision hip and knee replacement surgeries. There is opportunity for the arthroplasty fellow to train in performing primary hip and knee replacements whilst at the same time getting exposure to complex reconstructive procedures in hip and knee revisions.

The post is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean, although the duties and shift pattern are exactly the same as the training posts and study leave will be encouraged on an equivalent basis to that which applies to the educationally approved SHO's. The post will be on a 1:12 on-call commitment.

For further information please contact in the first instance Mr A Shetty, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon on telephone: (01924) 542402 or Mr James Newman 01924 542401.

These posts will be part of our cross site "senior trainee" rota - which is compliant with working time regulations and the 2016 junior doctor's contract, averaging 48 hours per week.
