The building of a new neurosciences centre based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton is an exciting opportunity to expand the services provided by the Neurology Department, in particular to head up a new Peripheral Nerve service. In recent years the service has grown significantly and will soon relocate into the new centre with state-of-the-art facilities in Brighton. 

Furthermore, the merger between BSUH and Western Foundation Trust in 2021 provides the opportunity to better co-ordinate the care of neurological patients ensuring greater equity of provision of services. This is a welcome strategic development in Neurology where the consultant workforce across Sussex already work in collaboration to provide inpatient care. 

This is an opportunity for someone who wishes to be a central part in developing a regional service with the prospect of co-location with Neurosurgery and Neurosciences in a new build neuroscience centre. 

There are opportunities for the appropriate postholder to work in partnership with the Neurology service in Western and forge links with the peripheral nerve service at St George’s University Hospital.
