Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT) invites applications for the new post of Consultant Medical Psychotherapist with the Acute Hospital Liaison Team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also assume the role of Psychotherapy Tutor for junior doctors training in Psychiatry. Duties include facilitating weekly Balint groups, Undertaking assessments as part of trainees portfolios. The post holder will work with non-medical psychotherapist colleagues across services assessing cases for suitability for junior doctors. The role would be undertaken in line with the requirements of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and West Midlands School of Psychiatry, supported by the Director of Medical Education

The post is based on a 8 PA job plan with 3 PAs in Direct Clinical Care, 3 PAs for the Psychotherapy tutor role and 2 PAs in Supporting Professional Activities. Participation in the Consultant Psychiatrist on-call rota is also expected at a frequency of around one in fifteen, with responsibility for both inpatient and community adult and older-adult patients.

Criteria to apply include GMC registration and inclusion on the specialist register in Psychotherapy. The post holder must also be eligible for Approved Clinician Status and be Section 12 approved. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to a Consultant role in Liaison Psychiatry is also advantageous.
