Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models. Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care.
These posts are not recognised UK training posts. Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop alongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes or credentialing to support career progression through other routes.
An Introduction to the Division/Specialty from Head of Service
A vacancy has arisen at Foundation Year One equivalent Trust Doctor due to reconfiguration within the Foundation school. This post is based at Pinderfields Hospital and the successful candidate is expected to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in order to support and help to provide a comprehensive General Surgery service within the Trust.
Pinderfields Hospital is a busy acute hospital. There are 52 adult inpatient beds on 3 wards and dedicated inpatient operating lists. Paediatric surgical beds are located on the paediatric wards on this site. ITU and HDU facilities are also present on this site. There are day case united at Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals. There is also an acute and elective unit at Dewsbury Hospital. Reconfiguration of Surgical services is due to occur later in the year with all acute General Surgery moving into Pinderfields Hospital.
This post is for a term of 4 months with a possible extension. You will be working alongside our other FY1 doctors and will participate in the emergency on call rota which is 1:18 with prospective cover for annual and study leave.
These posts will be part of our cross site "junior trainee" rota - which is compliant with working time regulations and the 2016 junior doctor's contract, averaging 48 hours per week.
