Crisis mental health services for children & young people in ELFT are expanding. We are pleased to announce that an exciting opportunity has arisen  Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist  to join in the leadership and further development of the East London CAMHS Crisis Service, which provides high quality care to support vulnerable children, young people and their families at times of crisis. This is a newly developed post. The current nurse led service operates across the three boroughs of City and Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets.  The service offers assessment and brief crisis interventions offering intensive support to prevent the need for admission or facilitate safe early discharge from acute hospitals. Appointment of a psychiatrist is an important stepping stone towards development of Home Treatment teams across the 3 boroughs.

ELFT CAMHS embraces continual quality improvement and a high degree of enthusiasm for working together with partner agencies to provide the highest quality service. The post holder will work closely with the nurse lead to expand and develop the service. There will be  close working relationships with consultant colleagues in the locality CAMHS duty/crisis intervention systems, with other CAMHS services, adult psychiatric liaison services  and with partner agencies including childrens social care, paediatrics and emergency services. ELFT is the lead provider for the NCEL CAMHS Provider collaborative and the collaborative patient flow team support the crisis team when psychiatric admission is required.

We are looking for good communicators with energy, motivation and enthusiasm who enjoy working with individuals and families with complex difficulties from diverse cultures and ethnicities and who can work effectively with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency contexts. We welcome applicants who have a flexibility of approach; commitment to evidence-based outcomes-led clinical practice; and the pursuit of the highest possible quality of service. Service user participation and shared decision-making is embedded within our service.

Relocation Expenses: We aim to recruit and retain the best possible staff who, through the application of their skills, qualifications and experience, will make a positive contribution to our business of providing quality health care services.  We believe that the costs associated with moving house in order to take up a post with us should not restrict our ability to recruit the excellent people we need, therefore we support staff to relocate with our relocation policy. If you are joining our Trust from outside the London area, then we may be able to support you with this by offering up to 10,000 for all removal and associated expenses. These circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis.
