Consultant in Respiratory Medicine
During the pandemic we established a 30 bed Respiratory Care Unit. This has been the main admitting point for patients acutely unwell with Covid infection. Working closely with Intensive Care we set up a High Dependency area providing acute CPAP and high flow oxygen for those with respiratory failure.
We are looking for a dynamic colleague who wants to join us in expanding our service and continue to provide excellent care to the people of Salisbury and the surrounding area. There will be plenty of opportunity to take on and develop a specialist interest and we look forward to discussing this further at interview.
In the last 18 months we have established an EBUS service for the local population. We also provide an ambulatory pleural clinic & IPC insertion. We have secured funding and have the equipment to start a thoracoscopy service, this is a priority for 2021.
We run a weekly lung cancer MDT supported by the on-site Medical & Clinical Oncology team and are joined virtually by the Thoracic Surgeons from Southampton. We provide chemotherapy on-site & patients receive their radiotherapy in Southampton. We provide a Sleep service for those in our locality as well as Dorset.
We also provide a small domiciliary non-complex NIV service locally; there is the opportunity to expand an interest in domiciliary NIV by developing links with our regional spinal unit.
We benefit from close links to the Southampton Difficult Asthma and ILD Services and hope to expand on these relationships.
We are a well-established acute trust with a track record of high performance and provide a broad range of services for the populations served by Wiltshire, Dorset and West Hampshire CCG’S, alongside highly regarded specialist services with excellent clinical networks both locally and nationally. We have about 470 beds and employ over 4,000 staff.
Salisbury is an attractive place to live and work and really gives you the best of everything. With easy access to London and local airports, Salisbury also has one of the 31 UNESCO world heritage sites in the UK in the form of Stonehenge and in addition boasts a number of museums and famous landmarks which are well worth a visit.
