This is a recently created full-time (10 PA) consultant post across the Adult Mental Health and Community Health Directorates in Newham. The post holder will work across two teams: the psychiatry liaison service within Newham University Hospital (Barts Health); and on Sally Sherman Ward, an older persons continuing care ward based at the East Ham Care Centre in Newham. The post provides a unique opportunity to provide consultant leadership in the wider healthcare system in Newham.

Newham also hosts a WHO Collaborating Centre (the only one specifically for Mental Health Service Development in the world) and the successful applicant will have opportunities for academic links with the Centre Director Professor Stephan Priebe, and its large research group in social psychiatry and global mental health. The option for job planned time for research activity will be actively considered. They will also be enrolled on the Trusts highly regarded Improvement Science in Action training and will be encouraged to contribute to our unique Quality Improvement programme.
