Consultant Psychiatrist Child and Young Peoples Services (CFYP) Norfolk & Waveney

We are looking for a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to join our Children and Young Peoples (CFYP) Service.

The Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trusts unique CFYP service aspires to address the issues raised by the children and young peoples mental health and wellbeing task force. Over the past couple of years CFYP has seen the expansion and growth in existing and new services such as Perinatal Community Mental Health and we were recently awarded £3 million to develop the Mother and Baby Unit which opened in January 2019.It is one of three in the country commissioned by NHS England.

Main duties of the job

We have reorganised our services to deliver an innovative Youth service for young people up to their 25th birthday recognising that the traditional transition at 18 from CAMHS to AMHS services can be difficult. NHS England have welcomed this, and recent Government papers have cited the need for all NHS services to move to this age range.

We are looking for an Adult Psychiatrist to join our innovative and growing service to work with us to deliver high quality care for our communities.

About us

If you are interested in getting involved in research, there is an exciting opportunity alongside one of our advertised Consultant posts to join our busy research team led by Dr Jon Wilson (Research Director) based within NSFT but also working closely with the University of East Anglia.

The team have several nationally funded projects focusing on young people such as the READY exercise and depression trial, ICALM testing IPC also in mild to moderate depression, and BEST trialling a schools based intervention for emerging BPD amongst many others. There is a dedicated and innovative research development team offering support for research and trial applications with a pipeline of further projects in development across a range of clinical areas.

This would be arranged as an integral protected part of the job plan allowing you to have dedicated time for research and development.

Our services are rapidly developing in response to the current challenges and this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to making significant improvements for young people in Norfolk. The role would be fully job planned and attracts an additional responsibility payment of 10% of the basic salary.
