Chief Medical Officer
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) was formed on 1 April 2021. We employ nearly 20,000 people and have an operating budget of more than £1 billion. We run seven hospitals in Chichester, Worthing, Shoreham, Haywards Health and Brighton and Hove, as well as numerous community and satellite services. The trust is responsible for all district general acute services for Brighton and Hove, West and Mid Sussex and parts of East Sussex. We also provide specialised and tertiary services across Sussex and parts of the South East, including neuroscience, arterial vascular surgery, neonatology, specialised paediatric, cardiac, cancer, renal, infectious diseases and HIV medicine services. This is an exciting time to join us as our new Chief Medical Officer as we work with staff and patients on the development of our clinical service strategies. You will play a key role in driving the overall vision of the Trust, providing strategic and professional leadership to our Medical workforce and our wider staff groups. As an Executive team member working with a collective leadership model, our CMO will be a progressive leader of our commitment to quality improvement, safety and efficiency and will empower our clinical workforce to drive transformational change beyond organisational boundaries.
For this pivotal Board position, we are keen to hear from Medical Leaders with Board level or equivalent experience. A collaborative and innovative leader; you will be a champion for diversity and inclusion and for putting the patient at the heart of all strategic decisions. Bringing energy and vision to our journey of continuous improvement, you will ably establish credibility in engaging with a wide range of partners within our local and regional systems.
