We are looking for an experienced and motivated colleague willing to join our team as a Consultant in Haematology and Blood Transfusion in Jersey General Hospital. The post is a substantive appointment.

This is a post to cover in a wide variety of haematological disorders. The post holder would be required to have experience as a consultant in similar setting and have led service improvements in those settings.

He/she would have experience in leading Blood Transfusion and Diagnostic Haematology/ Blood sciences services. Currently there is no on call commitment associated with this post.

The post holder will work alongside the current consultant in haematology to provide a comprehensive, efficient and high quality clinical and laboratory haematology service, including laboratory, malignant haematology and blood transfusion.

The post holder may take the lead in Blood Transfusion and or other areas by prior agreement. It is expected that the two consultants cover each other in all areas of haematology. The two post-holders will coordinate their leave so that both are not away at the same time.

The role of Consultant in Haematology & Blood Transfusion will join the Medical Services team within Health & Community Services at an exciting time of the implementation of the Jersey Care Model depicting how healthcare will be delivered in Jersey for years to come. The post holder will have the opportunity to participate in the OurHospital programme designing the future hospital for Jersey.

We provide a competitive salary and full travelling expenses are paid from a UK port of entry. Jersey has excellent living conditions including affordable private education for children. Under Jersey Law, applicants must possess FULL registration with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice. Applicants would be on the General Medical Council specialist register (CCT, CESR or oversees equivalent), or qualify for entry to the Specialist registry or within 6 months of award of CCT by the date of interview.
