SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN EATING DISORDERS AND MEDICAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
Full-time (10 sessions = 40hrs/week) Permanent Post
£41,986 - £78,294 per annum
We seek to appoint a clinician, with an enthusiasm for Eating Disorders and Medical Psychotherapy to join our team of psychiatrists in NHS Highland.
This post offers the opportunity for a motivated doctor who enjoys teamwork to be involved in the treatment of eating disorders, and the delivery of other medical psychotherapeutic interventions to a population spread across a number of remote and rural communities. The post will be well supported by experienced multidisciplinary colleagues within the Eating Disorders Service, working closely with colleagues within the wider Medical Psychotherapy department, which includes the NHS Highland Personality Disorder Service. The post holder will be supervised by and work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist attached to the Eating Disorders team with the aim of providing medical care and treatment to those with eating disorder and other conditions requiring specialist medical psychotherapy across North NHS Highland.
Approved Medical Practitioner under Section 22 of Mental Health Act (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) 2003 or eligibility and willingness to complete the training within 6 months to become an AMP is essential.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with eligibility for BABCP accreditation, or willingness to achieve this status and begin working towards it at the earliest opportunity is essential.
The recent pandemic has accelerated our existing capacity to deliver this service using digital technology, which opens up further opportunity and flexibility to the post holder. The post would be based at New Craigs Hospital, Inverness in the South and Mid Operational Unit at NHS Highland.
There is an enthusiastic peer group of Specialty Doctors in Mental Health which meets regularly; CPD and development of special interests is valued and encouraged.
