Consultant Paediatric Pathologist Full Time 10 PA, Substantive Appointment

Applications are invited to apply for the post of Consultant Paediatric Pathologist in the Department of Cellular Pathology at Barts Health NHS Trust. The paediatric pathology team provide diagnostic pathology services for a broad range of paediatric and perinatal cases, including post-mortems for Barts Health NHS Trust and several other hospitals.

Barts Health is one of the UK's leading healthcare providers and is one of the country's largest NHS Trusts. Our hospitals include The Royal London, St Bartholomew's, Whipps Cross, Mile End and Newham University Hospital. Together we deliver high quality clinical care to the people of East London and further afield, and are home to some of the UK's leading specialist centres. We are one of only two centres in the UK who diagnose and treat retinoblastoma. We are also a tertiary referral centre for paediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and provide support for research into IBD at Queen Mary University of London.

The upheaval of COVID-19 has provided our consultant team with the opportunity to implement flexible working, both geographic and temporal, enabling us to deliver an efficient service in spite of the restrictions of lockdown. Going forward, we hope to retain and capitalise upon these changes which we feel allow us to maintain a healthy work-life balance whilst continuing to provide an excellent service for our users - both major priorities for our Department. Our digital capabilities are expanding and we are in the process of implementing large volume slide scanning, remote frozen section macroscopy and reporting, and glass / paper free working.

The post is based in the state-of-the-art Pathology and Pharmacy building at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Cellular Pathology services are provided along specialist lines with the department providing a high quality integrated service. The appointee will be welcomed as a full and active member of the team.

Applicants are required to hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and to be on the GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.

A job description applicable to the post is appended, together with details of the department. This is a full-time post, however those interested in part-time work are also encouraged to apply.

For informal discussion, please contact Dr Esin Kotiloglu-Karaa, Lead Consultant for Paediatric Pathology at e.karaa@nhs.net , Dr Victoria Bryant, Consultant Paediatric Pathologist at v.bryant@nhs.net or Dr Abigail Lee, Clinical Lead for Cellular Pathology at abigail.lee9@nhs.net (020 32460421)
