Applications are invited for the permanent position of Consultant in Immunology (full-time) based at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a replacement post and the successful applicant will join the existing team in providing comprehensive clinical and laboratory immunology and allergy services. We would also welcome informal contacts from enthusiastic allergists who might be interested in joining our committed and dynamic team.

The East Yorkshire Regional Adult Immunology and Allergy Unit is based at the Queen’s Centre on the Castle Hill Hospital site and provides a comprehensive clinical service including immunodeficiency and general immunology clinics, allergen immunotherapy as well as allergy drug and food testing for a population of 1.2 million. Outreach clinics are currently held at the Scunthorpe General Hospital.

The Immunology Laboratory is based at the Hull Royal Infirmary and forms part of a new integrated Pathology Department opened in 2000. The Immunology Laboratory has UKAS accreditation and takes part in all relevant NEQAS schemes. It is expected that the post holder will assist other consultants in laboratory management. There is currently no on-call commitment.

The team comprises of three medical consultants (including this post), one consultant clinical scientist, one specialty trainee in immunology, one clinical nurse specialists, three senior staff nurses and an auxiliary nurse.

The department is well-established and actively involved in national and international studies; it has strong links with the Hull York Medical School. 

Applicants must have MRCP or equivalent, FRCPath in Immunology or equivalent and be on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (or expected CCT within 6 months at time of interview), CESR or European Community Rights.
