Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry

Vale of Leven Hospital, West Dunbartonshire HSCP

This is a 5 session inpatient post based at the Vale of Leven District General Hospital which provides services to Dumbarton, Alexandria and Helensburgh area. The Vale of Leven District General hospital includes two Old Age psychiatric wards. There is a functional acute ward which has 6 beds and an organic acute ward which has 12 beds. The post also cover older adult liaison for the acute beds within the Vale of Leven District Hospital.

The successful candidate will work closely alongside 6 other Older Adult Consultant Psychiatrists and 4 speciality grade doctors within the West Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire area and also be part of the wider Old Age psychiatry workforce of Greater Glasgow and Clyde. There are a number of exciting training and teaching opportunities within the local HSPC and wider Board area with the opportunity to shape the future of Old Age Psychiatry services as part of the GG&C Old Age Strategy which is currently underway.
