South Forensic Community Mental Health team

Based at Fulbourn Hospital, Cambridge

This exciting opportunity is a continuity of care post with clinical duties in the well established South Forensic Community Mental Health team and inpatient responsibilities on George Mackenzie House, low secure unit and ward, Mulberry 3.

This is a replacement position which arises due to retirement. The consultant will provide clinical leadership to the South forensic community mental health team and exercise consultant responsibility for the treatment and management of all patients registered with the service (approximately 50). In addition, the consultant will provide specialist forensic psychiatric evaluations of South Cambridgeshire patients referred by general psychiatric services, other hospitals, prisons, probation and multi-agency public protection panels. The service has good links with other forensic service providers, criminal justice and voluntary agencies.

Depending on the interests of the post-holder there are excellent opportunities to be involved in under/post-graduate teaching, management and service development. There are links with the academic department of psychiatry at the University of Cambridge and potential for consultants to be involved in research. There is an excellent CPD programme and opportunities for professional development.
