We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Director of Public Health who has a track record of achieving a reduction in health inequalities across diverse populations within an integrated model of service delivery.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are two of the fastest growing areas in the UK and are often described as a county and city of contrasts.  The areas are home to two leading teaching hospitals, an internationally renowned university and, across both areas, some of the most innovative, agritech, environmental, biotech and life science companies in the world.  In contrast there are diverse places and communities in both areas which have poorer resources and outcomes, leading to significant health inequalities.

Our new Director will play a pivotal role in our ground-breaking, place-based approaches to putting communities at the heart of everything we do, to help our population take more responsibilities for their own outcomes and to help tackle  health inequalities, embedding public health principles into the heart of this work.  This presents a fantastic opportunity for our new Director to be part of this significant change, as well as championing social and economic mobility.

Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council have maintained their sovereignty as Councils, however, Chief Officers, their deputies and other key services are shared across both councils which matches the co-terminosity of other organisations across this footprint including, Police, Fire, CCG and the Combined Authority.  There has been a one team approach to Covid-19 and our other challenges with a strong and cohesive leadership team who are passionate about making a difference, for residents and working collaboratively.

You will have great leadership skills with a strong commitment and track record in partnership  and integrated working with the ability to influence at all levels and with a demonstrable ability to meet the health challenges of our area, but equally enhancing and building on its opportunities, particularly with the new White Paper on Integrated Care Systems.

Further information on the role and to apply please go to our website at https://publicsectorjobseast.co.uk/ and search for the role under Cambridgeshire County Council.

Please send CV and cover letter to Julia Pettit, Executive Business Support Manager at Julia.Pettit@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

For an informal discussion please contact Gillian Beasley, Chief Executive on 01223 699188.

Closing date: 21st March 2021.
