Job overview This post provides an exciting opportunity to work at registrar level in a large teaching hospital in the heart of Lancashire. In this post you will be an integral part of the team, have time to develop your interests in audit, research and education and will work alongside innovative and nationally renowned clinicians who are specialists in their field.
This post would particularly suit doctors who have completed CMT and also individuals with equivalent experience. Posts will provide excellent experience and training for those looking to progress to specialty training and also for those looking to go down the non-consultant career grade or SAS route.
This post will enable the post holder to gain experience in acute medicine in a supportive and educationally-focused environment and although this is not a formal training post the post holder will be allocated an educational supervisor and provided access to the national e-portfolio.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will undertake the following roles:
Clerking of acute medical patients in both ambulatory and medical assessment unit Clinical reviews of patients on both the ambulatory unit and medical assessment unit Participating in daily ward round on medical assessment unit Assisting on the real time post take ward rounds with senior decision makers in accident and emergency, medical assessment unit and ambulatory unit The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in continuous improvement projects, education and audit.
This post will have a GIM on call element acting at registrar level. The current registrar GIM on call comprises a 1:12 rota.
Duties will comprise those expected of an on call medical registrar, managing acutely unwell patients admitted under the department of medicine, seeing urgent referrals for medical problems in patients on surgical wards and providing advice and support for a number of more junior trainees.

The job entails working in predominantly our medical assessment units and ambulatory areas with significant in reaching to our accident and emergency department.
Our acute medicine unit is an area for education and learning with medical students, advanced care practitioners, nursing staff, physician associates and other allied health care advisors working, learning and collaborating on a daily basis.

What we can offer Job Plan/On-call Requirements The Team The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMCs Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
If you are successful in obtaining a position with our Trust which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check. As a registered body with the DBS, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will conduct the administration of this application on your behalf and the cost will be recovered from your salary, either as a one-off payment or over 3 months. Currently the charges made by the Disclosure and Barring Service for an Enhanced DBS check is £48.20.
