South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) has an exciting opportunity and is looking to recruit Substantive Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist leading on the Long-term Condition and Trauma pathways within King’s College University Hospital (KCH).

Liaison Consultant role will cover generic Liaison Psychiatry Service duties and will lead on:

  1. A) Cardio-respiratory service, originally named 3 Dimensions for Long-term Conditions (3DLC), provides integrated mental and physical health care for patients with long-term conditions (LTCs).
  2. B) General adult liaison psychiatry team with lead responsibility for trauma. In this part of the role, the post holder will be part of general adult liaison psychiatry team with lead responsibility with focus on enhanced psychiatry input into the trauma pathway.

The post holder will work in close collaboration with the consultant liaison psychiatrists on the KCH site and develop close working relationships with other general hospital based teams such as neuropsychiatry, perinatal psychiatry and liaison psychiatry for older adults. The post holder will be employed by SLAM but will hold an honorary clinical contract with King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a passport within King’s Health Partners AHSC.

It is a condition of your employment that you are, and remain a fully registered medical practitioner and are included on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry held by the General Medical Council (GMC), or are eligible for inclusion into the register within six months of your appointment and continue to hold a licence to practice. You will be approved under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 and be an Approved Clinician or able to achieve this within 3 months of your appointment.

The salary range for this post is in accordance with the NHS consultant salary scale (whole time), plus London Weighting (whole time).
